1. I have a belief that the National Basketball Association expanding its league to Las Vegas will create opportunities and bring in revenue to the city and state immediately. This belief creates a huge opportunity for the city of Vegas and it will establish a brand.
2. The unmet need is a basketball franchise in the city of the Las Vegas. The unmet need is with other basketball organizations in surrounding areas such as the Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Pelicans, or other franchise looking to expand to another city to grow and flourish. The need came from the wanting and pursing of the citizens from Las Vegas. After the immediate opporutnity success from the start of the NHL team, Vegas Golden Knights, the city is hungry for the chance of hosting an NBA team like many other cities in the United States. Steps are being made by the National Basketball Association and by owners who want to either move a team to Las Vegas or establish a brand new team from scratch. Meetings and outreaches from citizens of the area occur to its local city about bringing this opportunity for jobs and revenue. I am 100% sure this opportunity exists, it has been an on-going pursuit by fans and business people of the city.
3. The prototypical customer is a fan of sports, who is desiring an investment of bringing an NBA organization to the state of Nevada for the first time ever.
4. Iteration No 1.
I am fortunate enough to be friends with a girl who is from and lives in Las Vegas, Nevada. The exact nature of the need is that they want to continue expanding the city as a whole and by bringing an NBA team, it will create jobs, income, and a sense of unity for the city. They became aware of this need before they brought in their first sports franchise to the city, Vegas Golden Knights. Once they established this NHL team, they realized the opportunity that it had created and the effects of it. By bringing in an NBA team, it will only grow the city and come with jobs and overall money that the state will earn. They are currently addressing their need by being vocal to their city authorities. They hope one day to eventually be a apart of an organization that is bigger than themselves.
5. I learned that the city as a whole is hungry for opportunity and for a chance to grow in a multitude of ways. This girl wants to see Las Vegas continuing to succeed and by bringing this to them will bring opportunity.
3. The prototypical customer is someone who want to see NBA games in person such as the rest of the United States.
4. Iteration No 2.
The exact nature of this need is that the citizens of Las Vegas are disgruntled with the absence of an NBA in their city. They became aware of this need when other teams starting to expand and move from city to city such as Seattle to Oklahoma City and Vancouver to Memphis. The fans of Vegas want to be able to be involved as a fan with a local team in their city. They experience this need when the NBA season is in motion and they do not have a team to respectfully cheer for. They are currently dealing with this issue by being proactive to the city and the people who are responsible for bringing in sports organizations. They will be satisfied with this solution once this change is made so they can be apart of the National Basketball Association as a fan.
5. I learned that even though this might seem like a "need" to a fan of Las Vegas, it does seem more like a wanting simply for the entertainment that it brings to the city like any other city who has a basketball team.
3. The prototypical customer person who works in sports and wants a position within the organization, this will create opportunity and bring immediate income that will ultimately help the city.
4. Iteration No 3.
The exact nature of this need is that someone who works in sports wants the opportunity to work for an organization within the city of Las Vegas. Due to the absence of this opportunity, they are at a disadvantage compared to people who works in professional sports organizations because they have a team in their city. They have had this need for years now, the sports field is very competitive so if Vegas has the opportunity to bring in a team, that immediately creates job and internship opportunities for people who have been waiting for years. They are currently addressing this issue by being proactive and hoping for owners to hopefully create a team or bring one over from another city.
5. I learned that working in sports is very competitive and the opportunities are limited. By bringing in an NBA organization to Las Vegas it will create plenty of jobs in many different markets. This is something that would not only benefit the city, but also the workers of the organization.
7. I still believe that this opportunity is still very relevant and possible that can happen in the coming
years. Not only does it cater to its fans and supporters, but also the people who works in the sports industry. It creates opportunities and income that Las Vegas currently does not have. This worked with the expansion of the NHL team so by doing so with an NBA team, history will repeat itself. I believe that my new opportunity is more accurate than when I started due to the Iterations and the details surrounding them. I believe that entrepreneurs should fully adapt their opportunities based on customer feedback. By listening to the customers, they get a different perspective and something they can take into consideration. Entrepreneurs such as Mark Cuban have capitalized on opportunities because of listening to fans and people who are outspoken on certain subjects. Overall, I believe that this going to happen and that the city of Las Vegas is going to receive many opportunities with it.
Hey Alex,
ReplyDeleteThere's no doubt that bringing a new professional sports team to an area like Las Vegas will create an increase in opportunity for the city. There's a wide population of people that this could benefit in an array of different ways. I like this idea because we all saw how well the NHL expansion team worked out by bringing the team to Las Vegas -- it was a huge success!
Hey Alex,
ReplyDeleteI completely agree that Las Vegas should have a basketball team in their city. As seen with the recent addition of the Vegas Knights, a sports team would thrive with a Los Vegas fan base. Due to the amount of sports gambling and wealth in the area, people would definitely attend games and root for their new favorite team. I also liked how you used examples of other cities to showcase how new cities have accepted teams in the past. Great post!
