Five ways in which I think I have human capital that is truly unique is my communication skills and skill of being transparent at all costs regardless the situation. Another unique capital of mine is my leadership skills that I can utilize in team work settings or in any given situation, I am someone who will step up and be a leader. Wanting to always leave my mark and to make an impact is something that I think makes me very unique. Another skill that separates me from everyone else is my work-ethic that is very hardworking and not stopping until my goal is accomplished, I love setting goals and achieving them. Lastly, teamwork skills, in any given situation I can work with people I know as well as strangers, but can make sure the task is done and utilizing my teamwork skills to achieve that.
The first person I interviewed was my roommate. He thinks the main thing that makes me different in my love and passion for my career aspirations of working in sports. He thinks I am an dedicated individual who works hard to achieve my goals no matter what it takes to accomplish them. He thinks my passion and goal-oriented mind will help me go far in my career. The second person I interviewed was my dad. He thought the one thing that made me different was my communication skills and how I can be put into any situation and I could use my words to get me out of it or communicate with people well even when I don't know them. He thinks I could be a good car salesman because of my persuading skills. The third person I interviewed was my oldest brother. He thought that my teamwork skills were a big factor in separating me from everyone else, he believes I could work on projects or tasks with anybody and be able to help make it run smoothly. I interviewed my other roommate to see what he thought about me, he said that I am a hard worker who loves to set goals and achieve them. My last interview was my middle brother. He thought that my leadership initiative was a huge thing that makes me different and unique. He thinks that with all of my experiences that I am a good leader and someone that my peers look up to in any given situation. Overall, all of interviews gave me a better look of my unique skill set and what my potential is.
During my interviews and afterwards, I was able to spot the small differences in how they viewed me versus how I viewed myself. A lot of the things they said were skills that I believed I had so it makes me happy to know that the people that know me the best view me in a similar way that I view myself. I think that the interviewees were correct with their assessments of me and I think it was very beneficial to conduct these interviews to confirm my secret sauce. The only correction I would make to my list is my passions and love for my career aspirations of working in sports.

Alex,
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading these types of posts, perhaps because they are, at least in my experience, very hard to write. I feel awkward talking about myself, and while it might not be the case everywhere, I know of a few other people that feel the same. To make your post easier to read, I would use a little more structure, for example, separate the interviews in sections. Also remember to post links to the audio interviews, they are part of the requirements of the post and they are either missing or do not display for other users. Good insights overall!
Alex,
ReplyDeleteI thought your post was pretty well conceived, however I feel like there are some areas that could be cleaned up to make it a little more user friendly for anyone who is reading your post. I think it would be a nice touch for you to separate your interviews into like a bulleted list instead of just one long paragraph. Also it would have been nice if you made your SoundCloud files hyperlinks instead of me having to go through and copy and paste them into the search bar for each of them. I'm not sure if that's what you were wanting to do but that's a simple fix if we need to do something like this again in the future. Overall, the post was good, just needs a few tweaks to make it better.
Alex,
ReplyDeleteWhat you and the people closest to you identified as the traits that separate you from the other potential sports agents out there is compelling. Most people want to be athletes, but its obvious you have a passion for working with athletes to help them reach their full potential in the sports market place. Your determination and ability to communicate effectively and efficiently seems like a prominent trait to have when representing someone and their athletic career. It's important to identify what makes us unique and I think you and your interviewees found the key one that could lead to your success.
Alex,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your post because the interviews seemed so genuine. You were able to successfully communicate with each interviewee and get quality information about yourself. Based on what they said, it seems like you have a great drive and great focus and can definitely make a serious impact on the sports industry one day.
Alex, I think you did a great job describing different aspects and characteristics about yourself. All of the traits you listed would most definitely set you apart from others in your market. It is clear that others believe the same of you, as you do. Often times what others think about us varies greatly from what we think about our selfs. Your interviewees see you in a similar light. Overall, great post.
